Goals in 2014

This isn't a soccer or hockey blog, so if the title confused you… well, I guess you'd have to be pretty new to my writing blog for that to happen! You might have noticed that I haven't posted to this blog since early December, so you might think that "more regular posting to my blog" would be one of my goals for 2014. In that, you would be sort of right. It's not a key goal (not yet, at least), but it is a general intent. However, I do have some pretty specific goals for this year, writing-wise, and it's past time for me to get some fresh content posted here, so that's what this post is for. And yes, I'll try to get back to my post-every-Friday rule!

In overview, here are the writing goals I have for 2014. (Check back next December to see how well I managed these!)

  • Release Assets, Budgets, and Credit: A Financial ABC in print
  • Get a new cover for Lesson One: Revolution!
  • Release, or get as close to releasing as possible, the sequel to Lesson One: Revolution!
  • Stop using punctuation in my book titles (OK, mostly kidding on this one)
  • Finish the 4th draft of a fantasy novel that I've had "in progress" for too many years decades, and maybe release it
  • Finish the 1st draft of another fantasy novel that I started for my first NaNoWriMo project (2006)

That's a lot of work I've set out for myself, and I have a lot of other work ahead of me in non-writing areas, so there's a good chance I won't nail every one of these this year. Unfortunately there's always the chance I won't complete any of them, but I'm trying to keep a positive mindset! If/when I complete a goal in the above list, I will update this blog post accordingly.

One other goal that is blog-related but not specific to my writing: I'm hoping to integrate Disqus comments here in the near future, to replace the built-in comment feature. There are a number of things that need to happen before I get to that point, but it's on my to-do list.

Well, back to that other work. Feel free to prod me at any time in 2014 about these goals, and thanks for stopping by my blog!
