Why create an account?

You might be wondering why you would want to create an account here. After all, you already have accounts on enough sites, you don't want to have to remember yet another username and password, right?

Things to Consider, in General

  1. If you use an OpenID provider (e.g., Google Accounts, Blogger, Flickr, etc.), you won't have to remember your username and password here. Create your account, add your OpenID connection(s), and then log in later using OpenID instead.
  2. Some pages and features are not available to people who aren't logged in. If you want full access to do things like vote, make comments, etc., you'll need to log in to your account.
  3. Accounts are free (of course).

Things for Family and Friends to Consider

  1. While I may have accounts on social networking sites like Facebook, I might decide at any time to drop such accounts.
  2. For things that should remain private (e.g., family photos), I'm probably not going to post them to a Web site controlled by a third party. I can ensure they remain private by having them on my own site.
  3. There are features on this site that are only available to friends and family. You can't access them without having an account that is tagged into a friend or family group.

If you have any questions or concerns about creating an account, please let me know. Otherwise, create your account now! (Or log in, if you already have one, or reset your password if you forgot it.)
