So Long, Lucky Oliver?

It wasn't very long ago that I mentioned in this blog that I had been accepted as a contributing photographer on Lucky Oliver. Well, the news is out that the site is closing its doors. That was short lived, at least for me... I didn't make any sales there in that short time with what few images I had online, but apparently there are some who are wondering about their accumulated earnings. I don't envy the position of the site owners at all!

From what I could tell, not a lot of sales were being made there by anybody, so despite the thorough (and fairly clever) theme of the site, it didn't have the earnings potential needed to compete in the microstock marketplace. For those interested in selling photos online, I would recommend Shutterstock as a "first stop" because it does appear to have a solid audience of buyers. You can always branch out to others later, although my financial rewards from doing so haven't made it worth the time, yet. Shutterstock continues to outperform the others.
