This section of my site is for those who go camping, hiking, kayaking, and similar outdoor recreation. If you enjoy the outdoors, I encourage you to get involved in groups that help preserve natural environments. You should be able to find organizations in your area fairly easily. If you're in Washington State, I highly recommend both the Washington Trails Association and the Mountains to Sound Greenway.

Washington State residents and visitors will want to check out the Hiking Guide to the Northwest at Attrition.ws. Check it out if you're thinking about going hiking soon, or if you just want to enjoy the photos for some "armchair hiking."
Be sure to check out the fire danger in your county, though, before you start an outdoor fire!
I haven't finished reading it yet, but Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder is a pretty interesting book. If you have kids and you've noticed they don't play outside as much as you did when you were growing up, you'll probably find it interesting too.
