This is an exciting week in the tablet market. For the past few months, rumors of a new Kindle device have tantalized readers as well as those of us writers who provide e-books for the Kindle. Many have speculated about what the features of the new device will be. As the official announcement drew nearer, more reliable specifics began appearing online. Even the apparent new name for the device, Kindle Fire, has been leaked. Now, it appears we are within 36 hours of the official announcement. This must be an exciting time for Amazon as well. Of course, self-published indie authors like myself hope that sales of the new device will also lead to more sales of e-books.
The new Kindle device is not the only new tablet this week. Samsung also announced a new tablet, and there are rumors about a new nook from Barnes & Noble. Or possibly more than one! It can be difficult to make sense of the various rumors that float around, but one thing seems certain: Holiday sales of tablet devices should be brisk.
If you would like to speculate on any of the new tablets, or if you buy one when that becomes an option, feel free to leave a comment on this blog post. If you don't want to wait to get your e-reader, you may be interested in a little page I put together that provides links to the current Kindles and also offers Kindle reading recommendations.
